It certainly turned out to be a “Good Friday” for the club at the Elswick Road Races, held over the Easter weekend, with a tremendous turnout of Female and Male athletes.

The day started off with the U/13 Boys race with the ever consistent Ethan McGlen finishing in 2nd place and Harry Morris running really strongly to come through to take 4th position. The Girls were not to be left out with Chloe Wellings having a great run to finish 4th in the U/15 Girls Race.

It was then onto the Senior Ladies who had 6 teams competing plus 2 Vets Ladies teams, they had 3 Teams finishing in the top 8 teams, which was a very strong and competative Race, the “A” Team taking 3rd place which consisted of Mary Ferrier, Michelle Nolan and Ellie Mohan. It was good to see some of our younger athletes mixing it with the seniors, where they would gain lots of experience for the future.

Our Senior Men were also well represented with again 6 Teams and 1 Vets Team, this turned out to be a tremendous Race to watch with the battles going on all through to the final 200m, the “A” Team pulled off a great victory with the team consisting of Dan Johnson, James Cripwell, Chris Parr and Calum Johnson, who also broke the existing course record by some 36sec, and Chris Parr running the fastest individual leg of the day.

The “B” also ran out of there skins to finish in 3rd postion and that Team consisted of Jed Marshall, Conrad Franks, Adam Simms and David Old.

Alan Johnson also picked up the prize for fastest O/50 on the day.

This was a really good day for the club and the atmosphere and team spirit was second to non, so well done to all who competed and also the club officials.

John (on behalf of Team Management)
