Report from John Stephenson (Men’s team manager) below:

The above Championships were held on the Newcastle Town Moor this year, which turned out to be a very testing course along with icey cold conditions.

The club were well represented in all the 5 age group races, which started with the U/13 Boys who ran brilliantly to come away with the Silver Medals in the Team race. They were led
home by Ethan McGlen who has only this month just moved into the U/13 age group, he had a tremendous run to take the Indivdual Bronze Medal, while Oscar Birney and Ben Wardle
were the other two counters in the team, but these lads were backed up well by Arun Summerfield and Jarred Flannery.

It was pleasing to see a really good turn out in the U/15 Boys race with the club having 9 runners with the Team in 6th position, the counters being Aleck Haddon, Sam Ashcroft and Jack Ford
ably supported by all the other lads, a good effort by all.

Although we only had three U/17 Men running on the day they all did there bit for the Team and came away with the Silver Medals, Chris Robinson and Callum Simpson finishing in the top 8 finishers
and Joe Kirk battled on to close in the team to claim the medals, these lads had the worst of the conditions with being last race of the day.

Barry Maskell running in the U/20 Men Championship virtually front run the race from start to finish to be crowned North East Champion and with James Cripwell in his first year as an U/20 in
5th position and Greg Chambers in 12th, they came away with Team Gold Medals, with Luke Clark and Lewis Davidson finishing together strongly proved the team had plenty of strength in depth.

The club had no fewer than 21 athletes in the Senior/Vets Men race with over 350 runners overall, it was very competative in the Team race and the club had there 6 counters in the first 34 finishers,
unfortunately we just missed out on medals (by 6 points) finishing in 4th place. Conrad Franks led the team home with a great run in 10th position, the other members of the team being Sam Brand,
Ross Christie, Rob Dobson, Jonny Malley and Kevin Connelly.

So overall it turned out to be quite a successfull day for the club both Team and Individual wise, so well done to all that took part, we move into the second half of the season come the turn of the year.
